Acting Secretary of State Flanagan to Step Down

17 June 2019 - Capital City, CW - Less than 24 hours after being appointed as the Secretary of State, Secretary Flanagan made this announcement on Facebook,

"Diplomacy, freedom, equality, and foreign policy are all things that I hold very dearly in my heart. However, family must always come first. Having said that, it is with a heavy heart, that I must decline the nomination and step back into my role as Deputy Secretary of State." - Sec. Alan Flanagan

Last week, President Bannister made the announcement that he appointed Flanagan to the position of Secretary of State for The Commonwealth, then today, Flanagan made his announcement that he would be stepping back into his previous role as Deputy Secretary of State, one step below the Secretary of State's position. Flanagan goes on to say in his post, that his family comes first.

Flanagan also mentioned that he wishes to nominate Kaidence Avery, the acting Deputy Secretary of State for the top position. Avery has been working at the State Department for more than three years. There is no word from House 804 at this time.
